From its bedazzled maw to its supple, leather-laden cabin, the Bentayga doesn't sacrifice any signature Bentley style in the name of a larger frame. Three powertrain options are available under its lengthy bonnet, ranging from a 456-hp plug-in hybrid to a 641-hp twin-turbo V-8 in the aptly named Bentayga Speed. Despite its sporty aspirations, the Bentayga places luxury at the forefront and is rivaled only by the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 when it comes to big-body, five-seat opulence. What's New for 2026? The Bentayga Speed returns with a vengeance after a two-year hiatus, now sporting a 641-hp twin-turbo V-8 and a host of other performance upgrades. A revised Sport drive mode enhances steering response and stiffens suspension damping by 15 percent for flatter cornering. Bentley also relaxes the stability control system, allowing for some seriously stylish drifts. All-wheel steering comes standard, making the Speed feel nimbler at low speeds and more stable at high speeds. Carbon ceramic brakes and a titanium Akrapovic exhaust are optional. The Speed also comes with exclusive exterior and interior design tweaks, including chrome Speed badging, tinted head and taillights, painted brake calipers, the choice of either 22-inch or 23-inch wheels, and embroidered Speed accenting. Engine, Transmission, and Performance Bentley offers several powertrains for the Bentayga. On the low end, you have a 456-hp hybrid arrangement with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 and an electric motor; Azure and S hybrids offer a slightly more powerful 456-hp version of the electrified powertrain, and a 542-hp twin-turbo V-8 engine is available in the S V-8. Regardless of what's under the hood, all Bentaygas utilize an eight-speed automatic transmission and come standard with all-wheel drive. With either powertrain, acceleration is fierce, and the Bentayga offers a placid ride. For the record, it can hustle down a curvy road better than its chief ultra-luxury SUV rival, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, if that’s the motivating factor in deciding between the two. When we recently drove the new Bentayga Speed, we were impressed by its prodigious thrust but noted some turbo lag and ride harshness in Sport mode.
