Jammed, trapped, stuck. Sound familiar?

If you've got steep divots, fat shots, no power, and a swing that feels like it's fighting itself, there's a good chance you're trapped before the downswing even starts. Here's what happens. The early L puts the hands way ahead of the ball the moment the body begins to unwind. There's no time and no space to release. So the wrist hinge has nowhere to go, the body backs up trying to square the face, and everything goes sideways from there. It's not a downswing problem. It's a backswing problem that shows up in the downswing. The fix isn't to work harder on your release or your impact position. It's to stretch the circle earlier so you're not jammed to begin with. When you keep the Y longer in the takeaway, you give yourself room. Room to coordinate, room to release, room to actually swing instead of fighting your way back to the ball. There's consistency waiting on the other side of this change. Before you L, make sure a long Y is happening first.
