Master the Ready Position in Pickleball

Getting caught flat-footed in pickleball? It's probably not your reflexes, your age, or bad luck. It's your ready position. In this video, Coach Mark breaks down one of the most important habits in pickleball: how to stay ready between every shot so you can react faster, move better, and stop giving away points you should be winning. A strong ready position starts with: ✅ Feet shoulder-width apart ✅ Knees slightly bent ✅ Weight on the balls of your feet ✅ A slight forward lean from the hips ✅ Paddle up in front of your chest ✅ Eyes up and focused The goal is simple: be prepared before the ball comes at you. When your knees are bent, your weight is forward, and your paddle is already up, you remove wasted movement. Instead of spending precious reaction time getting ready, you can simply move and hit. We also cover the reset habit most players forget: after every single shot, get right back into ready position. Hit a dink, reset. Hit a volley, reset. Stretch for a ball, then snap right back like a rubber band. You'll also learn how your ready position changes at the baseline, in transition, and at the kitchen line, plus the most common mistakes players make, like standing too tall, letting the paddle drop, or putting weight back on the heels. Take this into your next game: pick one part of your ready position and commit to it for the whole match. Knees bent. Weight forward. Paddle up. Eyes up. Reset after every shot.
