Climbing Italy's Battleground in the Sky: Sentiero dei Fiori

One of Italy's most iconic and historic routes! Sentiero dei Fiori combines both Italy hiking and via ferrata as it traverses high along the ridgelines of the Italian Alps, following a dramatic route through tunnels, along exposed mountain paths, and across incredible alpine terrain. Located in the Adamello-Presanella Alps in northern Italy, near Passo del Tonale, Sentiero dei Fiori takes you high into the mountains with nonstop views of some of the most dramatic peaks in the region. But what makes Sentiero dei Fiori even more incredible is its history. During World War I, these mountains formed part of the front line between Italy and Austria-Hungary. Soldiers were forced to survive and fight in this brutal high-altitude environment, building paths, tunnels, and positions directly into the mountains. Today, the Sentiero dei Fiori follows parts of this historic battleground, allowing you to experience the same extreme terrain while passing through remnants of the war and imagining what life must have been like for the soldiers who once lived and fought high in these mountains. The combination of history and adventure makes this route unlike any other. One minute you're walking through a tunnel carved into the mountain, and the next you're crossing an exposed ridgeline with huge alpine peaks stretching in every direction. And just when the main via ferrata adventure was coming to an end, we decided to keep going. We left the main route and continued climbing toward the high point above us, hoping to get an even better view of the surrounding mountains. It was definitely worth it — the views from up there were some of the most insane we've ever seen. This is our adventure climbing Italy's historic WWI battleground in the sky: Sentiero dei Fiori. This is our adventure on Sentiero dei Fiori. 🇮🇹🏔️ #ViaFerrata #ItalianAlps #ItalyTravel
