On many newer vehicles the switch works together with the steering column control module (SCCM) and the body control module, so a scan tool may show body B codes or communication U codes stored for the turn signal, wiper, or headlight circuits. Fast flashing turn signals are usually a bulb issue, but a faulty switch can cause similar behavior.
