Building With Bamboo & Planting Trees: Restoring Our Abandoned Land

After buying 5 acres of abandoned land in rural Italy, we’ve been focused on restoring our homestead through DIY projects & this week on our homestead, we’re combining a bit of everything: hot composting, fruit tree planting and our first bamboo construction project! 🌱 We built a huge hot composting station to regenerate our poor soil with & we create a shade-giving lid using bamboo from our land. We are also planting trees around the compost station (pomegranate & peach) to grow shade for the future and take a big step in building sustainable structures with what nature gives us - the first step in creating our permaculture food forest in the future! If you love homesteading, simple living or just a calming little look into life on raw land, we hope this video brings you something joyful. 🌿 Subscribe for more homestead life, permaculture, DIY and nature-based living Thanks for watching - Emily & Robi x Watch Next: The One Build That Changes Everything on Our Homestead: https://youtu.be/n0clrsW8Yyw Building An Honest Homestead: https://youtu.be/JtCkq7dTmJE Chapters: https://youtu.be/8CI7AFRyuPE 00:00 Introducing Our Homestead 00:35 Checking Our Homestead Compost 01:00 Turning Our Homestead Compost 03:29 Adding Yeast Water to Our Homestead Compost 04:29 Planting Young Trees On The Homestead 08:11 Checking Compost Temperature 09:25 Building a Frame For The Compost 11:15 Building With Bamboo From Our Homestead 14:29 Oiling The Frame & Finishing Bamboo Compost Lid 16:41 Preparing For The Next Bamboo Lids 17:43 Wild Pigs 18:37 Planting On The Homestead 19:11 One Final Compost Check 20:45 Outro 🪵 This video is sponsored by Woodworkers Guild of America. #homesteading #homestead #permaculture #simpleliving #bamboo #slowliving #composting #ruralitaly
