WHY Didn't We Do This Sooner? Restoring Abandoned Italian Homestead 🇮🇹 💧 This week, we’re making a big step forward on our homestead in rural Italy — and honestly, we’re wondering why we didn’t do this sooner. We’re finally setting up our off-grid rainwater harvesting system to help restore and rewild this once-abandoned land. With no mains water here, building a sustainable, self-sufficient water system is essential — and this is the very first step in our rainwater harvesting project. In this ep, we’re digging trenches, installing our first IBC tank and setting up our DIY rainwater off-grid water system. Along the way, we’re also restoring a broken door on the old house, sharing our young permaculture food forest (which will be thriving next year) and working together to restore our abandoned land, one step at a time. This is one of many homestead projects we have planned to bring life back to this area of rural Italy.
