How I train in the mountains during winter

In winter, maybe 80 to 90% of my training happens on skis. That part of the year has its own rhythm: long, cold hours with no other sound than wind, snow under my feet or skis, or an axe going into the ice. A different way of moving, and a different way of building the body. I always like this period. It feels simple. Now, little by little, things start to change and the mountains slowly open in another way again. Soon there will be more trails, more running, and the feeling of moving through the mountains will change with the season. But that’s also what I like, one rhythm giving space to another.
