Thick rough is NOT the same shot every time

Thick rye, full of moisture, rough will grab the club like Velcro the moment you swing through it. Here's what most golfers miss: you cannot just play the yardage number and swing normally. That grass is going to slow your club down at impact, potentially twist the face, and kill the distance you were counting on. Take at least one extra club and plan for it. And if the lie is really bad? That is not a 7-iron situation. That is a hybrid situation. Wider sole, lighter head, built for high launch. Sometimes getting out cleanly is the entire win. Do a practice swing in the rough before you set up. Feel how the grass grabs. That tells you everything you need to know before you commit to a shot. This is one of three trouble shots covered in the full video on our channel.
