Pilates Reformer Workout | Intermediate Level L5 B | Warm-up Focus
Warm-up focus is based on my Category System. In this system, Warm-up exercises are those that flex the spine, rotate the spine and heat the body up like Plies. Heating the body is an important component in exercise physiology when we are working out or training. Articulating the spine in flexion and rotation prepares the body for the exercises to come. It takes our focus internally, due to the concentration required to correctly articulate the spine, and brings our attention to the body in preparation for class. The benefits of warming the spine up at the beginning of class are far reaching and greatly researched. Heating the body at the beginning of class is also a well established practice across many movement modalities because of the physiological benefits of heat being produced to prevent injuries.
